Welcome to the Scottish Borders Space Trail, an innovative project to design and build a large-scale model of the solar system spanning 25 miles of the picturesque Scottish Borders countryside.
The trail will feature accurately scaled models of the sun and all eight planets, each one contained within its own sculptural installation designed to complement our rural landscape.
At the heart of the project will be a spectacular twelve-metre-tall sun that will house an educational hub and visitors centre. At this scale, the rest of the planets will range in size from 1.2m to just 43mm tall.
Residents, tourists, and local communities all stand to benefit from this ambitious project, which promises to be both educational and visually captivating.
This video was created back in 2022 when the Borders Space Trail project re-emerged from the dark days of the pandemic. Although not quite up to date, it does give a great overview of the project, its vision and where it will be situated across the Scottish Borders.
